Cross Country Skis

If your goal is the podium, we have race skis that will get you there. More interested in the sport of cross country? Then performance in-track skis will help you reach your fitness goals. If your emphasis is in-track but you take every opportunity to break a path through un-groomed snow fields than touring skis will satisfy. And for those who crave the solitude of the back country we've got you covered. Women's and Junior's specific skis included.

Boots

Because all modern boots are built to be warm, waterproof, breathable and comfortable all you really need to decide is what style will suit you best. Race boots will provide the stiffness you need to efficiently transfer energy. Back Country boots will handle the deep snow with style. Self molding interior liners provide a perfect fit and quick lace systems get you out the door quickly. Shepherd & Schaller stocks them all.

XC Bindings

SNS style bindings are easy to get into and out of. You'll be in control and enjoy fluid energy transmission with an efficient, easy, secure kick in a binding built for your style of skiing.

Poles

Lightweight poles are the cherry on top of your ski package. Choose from more than a dozen styles in several materials with a host of basket and grip styles to suit your needs. Shepherd & Schaller will help you determine the best fit.

Cross Country Ski Clothing

Be prepared for changing weather conditions every time you venture out and dress in lightweight, non-binding layers to help assure that you're ready to respond to changing internal temperature as well as the changes that mother nature brings your way. Don't over dress. Cross Country Skiing is an aerobic activity and it won't take you long to shake off that morning chill. Too much clothing can lead to excess perspiration, discomfort, chills and even hypothermia. Start with a lightweight wicking base layer to keep your skin dry (or a mid-weight layer that is also wind resistant to wear alone). A good combination might include light-weight long underwear under a soft-shell or fleece jacket. Wind-resistant fleece is a great choice for lower temperatures when you don't want as much air flow. Choose lighter weight hats and gloves, and don't forget moisture wicking socks and sun block. Bring a lightweight wind and waterproof jacket on long outings or when wet snow is in the forecast.

Necessities

Water Hydration packs are ideal for Nordic skiing, and many offer additional pockets to stow energy bars, sunscreen, wax, a camera and other must haves. Shepherd & Schaller stocks all these items so you can prepare for the season in just one visit.
